Everyone, thank you so much for the kind comments! I hope anyone who tries this will share before and after photos.
The website here is what convinced me to try this:

Taffy, I don't know if you wrote this, or Maria, or someone else, but thank you to whoever wrote this article, because it takes the fright out of trying this and turns it into a process that is easy and virtually worry-free.
The two scariest things were taking the old wig off (just because it seems to "dehumanize" the dolls when you see that they have holes in their heads!), and gluing the new wigs on. I always succeeded in getting glue on the hair part of the wig.
Also, a quick tip--I used a "dark brown" wig for the Hispanic Bitty. I was originally going to use black, but the AG site says the Hispanic Bitty has dark brown hair. I'd love to see Bitty Babies with red hair or light brown hair!
The wigs are a little less full than official American Girl and My Twinn wigs. I didn't like one brand (the wig is very, very thin, and you can see the seams if the hair moves slightly), but I didn't list brands since I didn't want to sway anyone one way or the other in case it was just the specific wig I got.
I remember another member was going to put a wig on Bitty--how did it go?
